BACKLINK EXCHANGE · FREE FOR GOOD
A free backlink exchange where both sides say yes.
Find verified sites in your niche, read their rules before you ask, and agree every link word for word. Each link sends their readers your way, and Rankbench keeps checking it stays live.
No website? Exchange from pages you've published elsewhere
Examples on this page use fictional sites, people and figures.
THREE PROMISES
Every exchange rests on three promises.
Google's spam policies warn against excessive exchanging. These promises keep every exchange deliberate: chosen, agreed and checked, for every partner and every link.
Every partner is a verified owner
Sites prove ownership before they can exchange, and only one verified owner is allowed per domain. You always know who is on the other side.
Nothing goes live until both say yes
Each request is reviewed, and each link is agreed word for word. The host places it themselves: nothing is added to a site without its owner.
Every live link is checked, and rechecked
Not once at the start. Rankbench keeps checking the link, its words and its page, and tells you when something changes.
HOW IT WORKS
From first match to a link that stays live.
Six steps. You decide at each one, and Rankbench keeps the record.
Step 01
Open your site to backlink exchanges
Prove you own your site, choose your exchange rules and share the pages a partner may ask to link from.
- Verify with a meta tag, a file, a DNS record or Search Console
- Standard rules in one click, or write your own
- Share pages straight from your sitemap, a list or a spreadsheet
Step 02
Find a partner that fits
Browse verified sites that welcome exchanges. Filter by category, country, language, authority, sites linking to them and how quickly they reply.
- Every listed site has a verified owner and published rules
- Authority (link strength, 0 to 100), sites linking to it and spam score, up front
- Someone you know isn't listed? Invite them. Joining is free.
Step 03
Send one clear request
Both sites sit side by side, so you can see the exchange is fair. Their rules are checked against your site, and yours against theirs, before anything is sent.
- Minimum authority, sites linking in, country and language checked both ways
- Confirm you've read their rules. The request keeps the version you read.
- They accept, ask you something first or decline
Step 04
Agree each link, word for word
Pick their page, your page and the exact words that carry the link. Use words already on the page, or propose one new sentence.
- Rankbench reads their page so you can select the words
- They accept, suggest different wording or decline
- Nothing goes live until both of you agree
Step 05
It goes live, on the record
Your partner adds the link to their page and marks it live. Both of you see every link, both ways, in one shared ledger.
- A running tally of the links each side has placed
- A publisher who edits the page confirms in one click, no account needed
- On a blog Rankbench hosts, the link goes into the post in one click
Step 06
Rankbench keeps watch
Every live link is checked again and again: the link, its words, where it points, and whether the page loads and can be indexed.
- Healthy links rechecked every week, problems every day
- An alert only when something changes
- The host site's strength is recorded the day the link goes live
EXCHANGE RULES
Both sides read the rules before anyone says yes.
Every site in the backlink exchange publishes its rules: what it will host, who it exchanges with and how links should look. You read theirs before you ask. They read yours before they answer.
Rules you can set
About twenty of them, all optional. Partners read them before they ask.
What you'll host
- Topics you welcome
- Topics and industries you never link to
- Page types and shortest article
- Links in the article text only
Who you exchange with
- Partner's authority at least
- Sites linking to them at least
- Countries and languages
How links look
- Links per page and links out in total
- Followed (dofollow) links only, or either
- How link text should read
Timing
- Reply within a set number of days
- Publish within a set number of days
Short on time? Standard rules take one click, and you can change them whenever you like.
Authority, sites linking in, country and language are checked automatically, both ways. The rest is in writing for both sides to read, and every request keeps the version of the rules it was sent under.
INVITES
Bring the partners you already know.
Already talking to a site you'd exchange with? Send them an invitation. They see your site and your full rules before they join, and joining is free for them.
Step 01
Send a link or an email
Invite one site, or make a reusable link anyone can join with. Add a personal note so they know it's you.
Step 02
They look before they join
Your invitation page shows your site's authority, the pages open for their links and your exchange rules in full. No account is needed to read it.
Step 03
They join free
A short guided setup verifies their site and starts them on standard rules. When your site is open to backlink exchanges, it ends on an exchange request addressed to you.
Step 04
You both still say yes
Accepting an invitation agrees nothing by itself. You agree every link together, like any other exchange, and you can follow each invitation from sent to ready.
WHO IT'S FOR
For anyone with something worth linking to.
Bloggers and niche sites
Find peers who write for the same readers, and link where it genuinely helps them.
SaaS and startups
Exchange with complementary products and the blogs your buyers already read.
Local and small businesses
Partner with sites in your trade, your country and your language.
Agencies
Run exchanges for up to 10 client sites. Owners confirm by email, and one request can go to a partner from several of your sites.
Writers without a site
Exchange using pages you've published elsewhere and can still edit, such as your guest posts.
GOOD PRACTICE
Exchange the way good sites link.
Google's spam policies warn against excessive exchanging and pages made only to cross-link. The backlink exchange is built for the opposite: few, relevant links that people chose and agreed to.
Relevant partners
Topic, country and language rules keep exchanges between sites that share readers.
Natural words
Each link is agreed inside a sentence that reads well, with link text rules both sides can see.
One link at a time
No bulk placements. Every link in the backlink exchange is a decision two people made.
No tool can promise rankings or decide how Google judges a link. Your rules can cap links per page and links out in total, so exchanges stay few. Exchange where it helps your readers.
COMPARE
Three ways to get backlinks. One you control.
| What you get | Rankbench backlink exchange | Automatic link networks | Paid link placements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who chooses the partner | You do | Usually the network | You pick from a catalogue |
| Read the other site's rules before agreeing | Yes | Varies | Usually listing guidelines |
| Agree the exact words of each link | Yes | Usually not | Varies |
| Partners are verified site owners | Yes | Varies | Varies |
| Links checked after they go live | Every week while live | Varies | Often for a set period |
| Hands-off once it's running | No | Yes | Mostly |
| Cost | Free | Subscription or credits | Paid per link |
| Best for | A few relevant links you agreed | Volume without the work | Speed, with a budget |
Typical of each approach. Individual services differ.
